(Reprinted from: The Midnight Cry Messenger, Vol 1, Issue 5 – January, 1995) Written by Chief Bishop Samuel Doffee (1995): This material is not to be republished in any Internet publication or any other publication without the express permission of the author. Anyone wishing to study this material is welcome to do so. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but that it should be hold and without blemish (Eph. 5:27). Jesus is coming back after a church (not churches) but one church, which will be built according to the pattern which is in the Word of God. In this message, I would like to deal with the subject of the pattern of the Church of God that Jesus purchased with his own blood according to the prophecy of Isaiah 9:6-7 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government (church) shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government (church) and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. This the Apostle Paul confirmed when he made the statement in Acts 20:28, Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. These verses of scripture, with many more, show us that Jesus, the Son of God, did not only come to this world and shed his blood for the remission of sins, but also to purchase (or buy) a church with his blood, which was his church, not a church for John the Baptist, St. Peter, St. James, St. Paul, not even for the Virgin Mary – but for himself. In Isaiah 66:1, he said The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house (church) that ye build unto me? And where is the place of my rest? In Matthew 8:20, Jesus said, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Now – why would Jesus make a statement like that? Or why would Jesus ask for someone to build him a church if all the synagogues, or churches in the world are the church? This is what is being taught behind pulpits, television, radios, etc., and this is not scriptural. We find in St. John 1:11-12 where it says he came unto his own and his own received him not. Meaning – his people, the Jews, did not accept him as the Messiah, which is the Christ, God's Anointed One that was to come and restore the kingdom back to Israel. Therefore, since his own did not receive him, he said in verse 12, but as many as received him to them will he give power to become the sons of God. Even to them that believe on his name. Meaning anyone that receives or accepts Jesus as their Saviour will be given power to become the sons of God. Not just children of God that are born again of the spirit, but sons of God, joint heirs with Christ, his body, the Church. Romans 8:17: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Jesus saw all these churches and everyone having a different doctrine or belief, which means they are divided. Therefore, Jesus said in Matthew 12:25, And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city (church) or house divided against itself shall not stand: Jesus then started to look for somebody to believe in him and follow him to build him a church. Therefore, when Jesus came in unto the coasts of Caesarea in Philippi, he asked his disciples (not all believers) in Matt. 16:-13-18: Who do men say that I, the son of man am. And they answered him saying, some say thou art John the Baptist, some Elias, and other Jeremias, or one of the prophets; then he said unto them, Whom say ye that I am? I want you to notice that Jesus asked his disciples who the people (the Jews, the people that had repented and were water baptized by John, etc.) were saying that he was. But in the 15th verse, he asked them (his disciples) whom do ye say I am? In verse 16, Simon Peter said unto him, Thou art the Christ (meaning the Anointed, or the Messiah that is to come), the son of the Living God. Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed are thou, Simon Barjonah, for flesh and blood (meaning men) hath not revealed this unto thee, but my Father, which is in heaven. Luke 10:22 says that no man knoweth whom the Son is but the Father, and I say also unto thee that thou art Peter and upon this Rock will I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Meaning — Peter, I will build my church upon the revelation you have of me – that I am also the Christ, the Anointed One, and not just Jesus, the Saviour that takes away the sins of the world.) And from that day on, Jesus started to gather together out of the kingdom of God a people to start his church. TIME THAT JESUS STARTED HIS CHURCH And it came to pas on the second sabbath after the first that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands (which was during the Feast of Tabernacles in the seventh month which is October – according to Lev. 23:38-39). Also in Luke 6:12-13: And it came to pass in those days, that he (Jesus) went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God (just like Moses when God called Moses to come up to the mountain to hear from the LORD, according to Exo. 24:1-4). And when it was day, he (Jesus) called unto him his disciples (all of them that followed him while he was preaching and teaching) behold, the Kingdom of God is at hand (now, I want you to notice!) And of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles. This was his foundation and pillars of his church – Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, and the 13th Apostle. As the Apostle Paul said in I Cor. 12:28-28: Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments diversities of tongues. And after that in Luke 10:1: After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whiter he himself would come. THIS IS AND WAS the beginning of the Church of God set up in the same Biblical order, or pattern, that God had given Moses on the Mount (Exo. 24:1-4; Heb. 8:5) and that Jesus himself used to build his church. The only difference between Moses and Jesus was that Jesus used different people and material, and when Jesus had set his church up according to the pattern, then he said in Matt. 5:14: Ye, (the Church) are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. This shows you that Jesus did not just gather a bunch of people together and say, "This is my church." No more than just every group of people today who gather together, with everyone having a different belief, are the church that Jesus is coming for when he comes back the second time. Therefore, to be the church that Jesus is coming for, the church must be built according to the pattern, which is revealed in the candlestick, as God give to Moses and that Jesus followed, for he is the author and the finisher of our faith. AMEN BUILDING THE CHURCH ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN -
PART II
Eph. 5:27: That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Dear Readers: I want to thank you for reading the last Midnight
Cry Messenger on Part 1 of Building the Church According to the Pattern.
This Midnight Cry Messenger is to continue the last one on building The
Church According to the Pattern given by God to Moses on the mount.
It was shown in the last issue how Jesus had a work to do besides bringing
salvation unto all people. The work that he had to do was to order
and establish the Church according to the prophecies of Isaiah 9:7-8.
This is what Jesus did according to Luke 16:14, when Jesus came down from
the mountain and called out 12 men and called them apostles. Also,
in Luke 10:1, he appointed another 70 prophets, which was the foundation
and the beginning of The Church of God - his Church, according to Acts
20:28: Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over which
the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the Church of God which
he purchased with his own blood. In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus said to his
apostles: Ye are the light of the world. A city (church) that is set on
an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it
under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that
are in the house (or church). Let your light so shine before men,
that they (others) may see your good works (meaning they had a work to
do besides preaching salvation), and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
I hope you enjoy this message as we continue.
THE CHURCH, THE BRIDE, THE LAMB'S WIFE
Revelation 19:7-9 "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God." In this article, which is Part 3 of Building the Church According to the Pattern, as God gave to Moses on Mount Sinai. (Heb. 8:5, "Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle (church in the wilderness - Acts 7:38): for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.") This same pattern that Moses used to build the tabernacle (church) Jesus used also when he built His church, which is called The Church of God, that He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28). The only difference is Jesus used different people to build His church in fulfilling of the scripture Romans 1:16, ". . . to the Jew first and also to the Greek" (which are Gentiles). As I explained from the scripture in the last Messenger, Jesus built His church with twelve apostles, seventy prophets, and later, after His death, seven men of wisdom. Luke 6:12-13 - "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;", Luke 10:1 - "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come." And according to Paul in Eph. 2:19-20, they were called prophets. After that when Jesus had ascended back to the Father, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business." (Acts 6:1-3), thus fulfilling Proverbs 9:1 - "Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:" After this was done, they reached their measure of 144,000 Jews. As shown in Revelation 7:4, "And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel" which was the completion of the early church. In Romans 11:7, 25, Paul said, "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it (the chosen, the Church, has reached its measures), and the rest were blinded (25) . . . that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." Therefore, this being the third part on this subject of Building the Church According to the Pattern, I want to complete the subject by using the scriptures (II Tim. 2:15) as Paul had instructed Timothy, rightly dividing the Word of God, putting the scriptures into its proper context, that it can be understood by all that read this that there is to be a church built among the Gentiles that is to be the Bride, the Lamb's wife, using the same pattern that Moses used, and Jesus used, when He built His Church in the beginning of His ministry. Paul said in Romans 1:16, that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (which is the Gentile). In Romans 2:9, that tribulation and anguish would come upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first and also to the Gentile. He said in verse 10, glory and honour and peace to every man that worketh good to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. Ephesians 4:4-6: "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith (Church or doctrine??), one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Paul became a prisoner of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, because without the Gentile part of the Church, the Bride cannot be made perfect. (Heb. 11:40) Eph. 3:6-9 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body (church), and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:" but is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. (Eph. 3:5) I explained in the last Messenger about the Jews' part being the 144,000 that were in the first early Church and mentioned that after we had done our part (the Gentiles) that both nations would be gathered together for the final reign of Jesus Christ on this earth. What is our part? What do we have to do now? Paul said in I Cor. 3:10-11, 13, "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I (Paul) have laid the foundation, and another (man) buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Cor. 12: 27, 28, "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." Ephesians 1:22-23 - "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." Jesus chose his apostles from the Jewish nation, and they fulfilled Moses' 12 patriarchs. We know this because Peter asked Jesus in Matt. 19:27-28: "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." Now the Gentile 12 apostles are to fulfill the promise to Abraham's son, Ishmael, who was a Gentile - 12 princes (which are apostles). Gen. 17:18-20: "And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation" (which is Gentile). The Gentiles, to fulfill the completion of the Bride, the Lamb's wife, must be a church that is built by the same pattern that God gave Moses for the tabernacle, that Jesus had when he set up His church, and that Paul continued as he taught the mystery of the Church to the Gentiles, as explained in previous messages. Therefore, we must have 12 apostles, 70 prophets, 7 men of wisdom, a leader (servant), etc. in order to have a church that is operated by theocratic government that will be the fulfillment of the Gentile church. This Gentile part of the Bride will later be joined with the Jewish Church to become one under Jesus in the millennial reign. As written in Isa. 9:6-7, ". . . and of his government there shall be no end." Showing you that the Church has to be operated by the government of God (which is the pattern of God which he showed to Moses on the mount and which Jesus continued when he built His church). We must have a church that is operated in the Biblical way (theocratic government) and built according to the pattern of God, to be the Bride, the Lamb's wife. Rev. 21:9-11: "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;" I want you to note that the angel did not tell the whole church to come hither, he told John to come up hither - "and I will shew thee the Bride, the Lamb's wife." And when he was taken up into the high mount, listen to the changing of the word from the Bride - he called it the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending from heaven from God to John, not to the world. Rev. 21:2, "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Meaning that John got the revelation from God to give unto us the blueprint of what it takes to be the Church, the Bride, the Lamb's wife. TO THE NEW JERUSALEM As shown in Heb. 12:22-24, "But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel", all these names mean the same thing - the Bride. The 12 Gentile Apostles and the 12 Jewish Apostles: Rev. 21:12, "And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:" which means Moses patriarchs as explained above. Now I want you to notice that the wall of the city did not only have 12 gates in it, but they also had 12 foundations in it, (verse 14) "And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." In verse 19 and 20, "And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst." These 12 apostles (garnished foundations) are the fulfillment of the 12 princes of Ishmael, who was the Gentile son of Abraham. Many may think these 12 apostles are the apostles of Jesus, but none of Jesus' 12 were called by the stone names which are set out above. Also, the names of the gates, the pearls, are separate to the foundations of the city. Gentiles Will Build the Walls of the City: Isa. 60:10 And the sons of strangers (Gentiles) shall build
up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath
I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
THE NEW JERUSALEM REV 21:23-27 "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved (born again and living) shall walk in the light of it (the church, city): and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." This scripture plainly shows us that the Church, the City, the new Jerusalem, will be here on earth in the millennial reign, with the City made up of the pattern of God as He showed Moses from the beginning. If it were not, the kings of the earth could not bring their glory into it, and the nations of them that are saved could not walk in the light of that City. This is the completion of the Church, the Bride, the Lamb's wife, Jew and Gentile together which will live and reign with Jesus 1,000 years upon this earth. Acts 15:14-18 "Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world." Again, as Jesus said in John 10:16, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold (church): them also I (Jesus) must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." Therefore, we are looking for apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, and teachers to get the Church ready for the coming of the Lord. As the scripture says, he will not come back until the Church has made herself ready. Acts 3:20-21: "And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." AMEN If you have any questions about this message, or if you are looking
for a Church that is conforming to the Body of Christ as the Bible teaches,
with doctrine that is sound and true, please contact us at the address
on this Messenger. We are looking for men and women who want to live
according to Bible scripture. John 4: 23-24: "But the hour
cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father
in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and
in truth." AMEN
